Great resource
Every parent over 35 should treasure this book!
So glad we found this book!Nachamie deals with the big issues for "older" couples head-on yet with humor and perspective.
She examines the beliefs behind the social norms for the "correct" age of parents for young children. Nachamie also validates the sense we've had that for our age group, our mothers definitely are not the first resource we'd turn to in figuring out parenting challenges -- our age cohort feels this way (it's not just me and my mom!) and this is a contrast with younger moms and their mothers.
She identifies accurately the pitfalls older parents tend to fall into when parenting -- I see these frequently in my own clinical practice (as a child psychiatrist) and I can project how readily I could fall into a similar pattern unless I were forewarned and thus watchful. (Example: overindulgence of the highly-valued child, under the guise of "We're building his self-esteem by having him make the decision. . ." so the child doesn't experience appropriate limits. We've all experienced this at restaurants or stores.) And she makes specific creative suggestions for how to address the downside and celebrate the upside of being older parents. The parenting advice is very very sound.

Great Start.
A Military Perspective
The absolute best out there!

Great adventure story
Very Enjoyable....Easy to read and captivating....These guys are Canyon legends and their story is told in this first-hand account of what happened.
Interesting to see how the Canyon has changed since Glen Canyon was created post swim....
Great Read....Interesting to compare the Canyon of the 50's to that of today and the impact that man has made on the canyon.
Illustrations/Photo's were point-of-fact and captivating also....

Perfect potablity
Neat Blank...This would be a great gift for almost anyone - and at just the right price.
Better batik would be hard to find.

Well Done, Carefully Constructed Book on Throwing TechniquesTedeschi has grouped the techniqes into six major categories: shoulder Throws (12 techniques), hip throws (14 techniques), Leg throws (12 techniques), Hand Throws (26 techniques), Sacrefice Throws (10 techniques)Kick-counter throws (16). Also a set of 20 combinations (throw to lock), and a vital section on Defenses against throws (24 defenses shown). You might also be wondering whether the techniques shown in this book are too specific to Hapkido to be of any use to you if you practice say, judo or another martial art. The nice thing about Tedeschi's books is that he has studied a variety of grappling arts--and come to the same realization the rest of us have over the years. An inside shoulder throw is still an inside shoulder throw--whether you call it that in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, or English. Tedeschi's 4-volume series makes no distinction as to language or culture--every technique in this book is referred to by it's English name.
I should add that I am pleased with the quality of the volumes put out by the publisher, Weatherhill. Clear photographs are printed on slick acid-resistant paper, and the boards of these volumes are covered with a laminated paper that will resist picking up sweat (or any other of those wonderful things we get on our books while taking them on the mat or discussing techniques after practice). Tedeschi has gone the extra mile in making ALL of his books as specific as possible. Most of the techniques shown include extra photographs and diagrams of bones, muscles, and pressure points as they apply to the specific technique. This is the first technical martial arts book by any author where I've seen this sort of exacting detail on virtually every technique. And to think, he doesn't call himself Grandmaster or wear anything but a plain black belt.
Great
Another excellent text

Fantastic Story!
It's a good story, a good love story!
New tendency for literature

Buy this one, it's fabulous
Ideas GALORE!There is enough variety included to interest an experienced craftsperson, but presented in such a way that a beginner is not overwhelmed.
Full of fresh ideas for all, inspriational galleriesI like how the techniques, such as folding types, pamphlet sewing, multisection sewing, attaching covers & making containers to place the books in are taught before going on to the projects.
My favorite book is actually four books assembled with Japanese style stitches & encased in a wraparound box. It is really nice that it shows you how to rebind your favorite books as well. I have not seen this covered in other books.
I love two-page gallery sections that follow each book type. They are very inspiring. The supplier's list & bibliography are nice bonuses. With lots of fresh ideas, this book makes a great gift for yourself or a friend.

101 Quilt Blocks for Hand Piecing
Best book to get you started quilting, little gab, show how
Strictly for hand sewers

Excellent! Informative! A great reference tool!Since this book was written in the Civil War era, it is interesting to read things like, "In cases of 'excessive fatigue' or 'severe exposure', soldiers may receive one issue of whiskey of one gill per ration.
It simply doesn't get better for direct information about the Union army rules by the government. Besides being a great reference, this book can be quite entertaining as my previous paragraphed explained. ENJOY! 5 STARS!
Handy book
The 1865 Customs of Service for NCOs and Soldiers

Winterlong 2 it is not. It's a far out comparison, but some of Hand's sci-fi images and concepts remind me of Cordwainer Smith (if you don't know him you should!)
ELIZABETH HAND DOES IT AGAIN!
A beautiful, startling book
Nachamie's opinionated--I held my breath while she ranted against relying totally upon a full-time nanny or sitter without establishing checks and balances that keep the child yours. While she spares no words here, her arguments were quite persuasive about keeping control.
I picked the book up to read about what to expect and am glad to have read it. Seems like parenting when your knees are giving out is a lot of work, but the joy expressed by the mothers she's interviewed is the most convincing argument of all.
